Wolfpack football fans are recycling at an all-time high – 53 percent more in 2012 than the previous year. At home football games in 2012, the WE Recycle program collected more than 58,000 pounds of recyclables.

Already at the first two home games of the 2013 football season, 24,000 pounds of recyclables have been collected, putting the program on track to significantly increase recycling totals again in 2013.

A partnership effort of Waste Industries, NC State Athletics and NC State Waste Reduction and Recycling, WE Recycle collects recyclables both inside Carter-Finley Stadium and in the surrounding tailgate parking lots.

Before the game, clear WE Recycle plastic bags with red ties are distributed in tailgating lots either through WE Recycle and WITH (Wolfpack in The House) volunteers or through new bag dispenser stations (currently available only in in the Trinity lot and the Southeast lot near the State Convenience Areas). Tailgaters are encouraged to fill the bag with recyclables, tie the bag and leave it on the ground for collection before leaving the game.
