Celebrate the impact of pollinators during Pollinator Week June 20-26. The following campus event will be hosted by Staff Senate’s Resources and Environment Committee as part of its Sustainability Partners event series.

Garden Design with Julie Sherk
June 20, noon – 1 p.m. 
Learn about the importance of trees for pollinators with NC State Horticulture Science professor Julie Sherk. Attendees will discuss the benefits of urban forests and garden design.

Attracting Pollinators with Native Plants with Amy Mead and Gloria Putnam
June 21, noon – 1 p.m. 
Join Amy Mead, Natural Resources Area Agent with NC Cooperative Extension, and Gloria Putnam, Coastal Resources and Communities Specialist with NC Sea Grant, to discuss the importance of native plants for pollinators and the Coastal Landscapes Initiative.

Pollinator Gardening 101 with Debbie Roos
June 22, noon – 1 p.m. 
Learn about the principles of designing and planting a pollinator garden and how to select plants to attract a diversity of pollinators with host Debbie Roos, NC Cooperative Extension Agriculture Agent. A virtual tour of Debbie’s demonstration garden in Pittsboro, NC which features over 225 unique species, 85% of them native to North Carolina, will also be showcased.

Bee Habitat and Pollinator Protection with Dr. Danesha Seth Carley
June 23, noon – 1 p.m. 
Join Dr. Danesha Seth Carley, Director of NSF Center for Integrated Pest Management and NC State Associate Professor of Horticulture Science, for a workshop focused on creating bee habitats. Attendees will also discuss how to protect pollinators in your landscapes.
