Get to Know: USGBC Student Chapter

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) at NC State is a multi-disciplinary, cross-campus community of students and young professionals interested in green design, building, business, engineering and more.

NC State’s student chapter of this international professional association hosts casual monthly meetings, career events, and volunteer events such as stream clean-ups and working in community gardens. Members have access to preparation resources for LEED and SITES professional certifications, networking events with local companies and sustainability professionals, the annual Greenbuild Conference and the Scrap Lounge of reusable resources in the Brooks Hall basement.

The group’s annual career event is Sept. 12 and focuses on Advancing Your Green Career at NC State University.

“We hope to highlight a diverse group of professionals from various fields to raise awareness of green career opportunities,” says member Simon Gregg. “Topics covered will range from career challenges, client relationship skills, best management and project practices, and how education and career path contribute to success.”
