Get to Know: Roots and Shoots

NC State student organization Roots and Shoots is a chapter of conservationist Jane Goodall’s national organization.

“We exist because we care about conservation, environmental and humanitarian issues,” says member Kaitlin Bratt. “One of our main focuses is on conservation.”

Roots and Shoots events include field trips to local science centers, local environmental events and painting the Free Expression Tunnel to raise awareness of conservation issues. Other events include tie-dying t-shirts with dirt (instead of chemicals) and plant sales to raise money for the chapter. The chapter also helps members learn about sustainable actions that can improve the planet.
