In the first green event for NC State Athletics, the Wolfpack women’s basketball team trounced the UNC Tar Heels (88-72) in historic Reynolds Coliseum.
In addition to GoPack.com launching a sustainability page, many steps were taken to green the game. For instance, the hallowed halls of Reynolds featured waste stations consisting of composting, recycling and trash bins. Additionally, steps were taken to ensure beverage and food containers were either recyclable or compostable. Students who attended the game received t-shirts made from 100% recycled material, generously donated by SustainU Clothing.
During the game, student volunteers staffed the waste stations to guide users in sorting their disposables. After the game, student groups walked the aisles to collect organics and recyclables left behind by the exuberant fans.
