Now Hiring 20+ Sustainability Interns

All NC State students are invited to apply for paid internship opportunities through the Campus As A Classroom sustainability program for the 2025–2026 academic year. These positions offer meaningful, hands-on experience in advancing campus sustainability in areas such as energy, waste, pollinators, food systems, communications and planning.

Some projects will hire multiple students, so more than 20 students will be selected. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, internships range from 5 to 20 hours per week and pay $12–$20 per hour depending on the project and student classification.

Available Student Internships:

  • Sustainable Wolfpack Intern
    Support sport sustainability initiatives, fan engagement and gameday composting with NC State Athletics.
  • Communications and Outreach Intern
    Promote campus sustainability through events, social media and visual storytelling with the Sustainability Office.
  • Energy Management Communications Intern
    Support outreach and engagement for energy-saving campaigns and conservation initiatives.
  • Sustainability Data and Reporting Intern
    Assist with campus sustainability data collection, greenhouse gas inventory and peer research.
  • Energy Management Projects Intern
    Contribute to campus energy and water efficiency efforts through data analysis and project support.
  • Sustainability Living Labs Intern
    Help develop a campus-wide living lab program connecting operations with research and student engagement.
  • Zero Waste Graphic Design & Marketing Intern
    Create visual content to engage students in zero waste programs and initiatives.
  • Pollinator-Friendly Campus Intern
    Support pollinator habitats through plant care, outreach and campus mapping with Landscape Services.
  • Environmental Resource Clinic Student Training Program Intern
    Join a research team focused on water quality monitoring, community engagement and data analysis.
  • Bee Campus Intern
    Design, test and promote bee hotels and lead public outreach on solitary bee conservation.
  • GIS Intern
    Assist with spatial data review and mapping of accessibility and other features across campus.
  • Field Botany Research Assistant
    Conduct a yearlong inventory of vascular plants in Lake Raleigh Woods and organize a campus Bioblitz.
  • Agroecology Education Farm Intern
    Gain hands-on experience in sustainable food production at the campus teaching farm.
  • Landscape Architecture Intern
    Support campus planning and design projects with the Facilities Division (Graduate students only).
  • Food Waste Reduction and Management Intern
    Help reduce food waste in dining operations through research, data tracking, and technology exploration.
