Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge Empowers Campus Wellness

HR Wellness, Wellness and Recreation and the University Sustainability Office recently wrapped up the 2025 Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge, an activity-based program designed to spark sustainable habits for staff and students.
Throughout April, NC State’s Earth Month, 15 participants completed sustainability-focused activities, ranging from environmental action and personal wellness to education and community-building. Each participant received a reusable canvas bag as a token of appreciation for their commitment to creating a more sustainable Wolfpack.
“Wellness and sustainability are interconnected,” said Kelly Vance, wellness, child care and perks coordinator in University Human Resources. “By prioritizing wellness, individuals can make healthier lifestyle choices that often align with sustainable practices, such as consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, reducing waste and engaging in physical activities like walking or cycling instead of driving. These choices enhance personal well-being and contribute to a healthier planet.”
In addition to the Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge, staff and students can engage with sustainability year-round by:
- Attending sustainability-related events on campus
- Joining campus and community service opportunities
- Participating in wellness programs and challenges
- Exploring sustainability-related resources for your home, garden, health, family and more from NC State Extension
- Subscribing to the sustainability newsletter to stay updated on research, events and opportunities
