Become a Master of the Physical Master Plan

The NC State University Facilities Division is pleased to announce the launch of the Physical Master Plan Orientation: Level 1 course. This self-paced online course is designed to provide campus stakeholders — including faculty, staff and students — an overview of the NC State physical campus, the 2023 Physical Master Plan report, the guiding principles and the campus development process.

The orientation consists of three levels, designed to equip participants with the knowledge to actively participate in shaping the campus’ future. Understanding how the physical campus was developed through the years will provide important context for members of our community who want to influence future development through their informed participation. The course is intended for anyone who is interested in knowing more about the physical campus, and it is required for stakeholders involved in campus development.

Development of the orientation course was spearheaded by the Facilities Division.

“I know of no other university that continues broad stakeholder involvement with campus development beyond the physical master plan publication effort,” said Lisa Johnson, university architect and assistant vice chancellor for Campus Planning and Strategic Investment. “Orientation allows the campus community to be informed and engaged in the development of the physical campus, which is hugely important in ensuring that we are making the best decisions for NC State.”
