Where Are They Now? Sustainability Steward Jaeleen Mendoza

Meet Jaeleen Mendoza ‘20, a former Sustainability Steward who is making a meaningful impact as a Project and Clinic Assistant at El Futuro in Raleigh, NC.

How has your experience with the Sustainability Stewards influenced your personal or professional pursuits?

I served with Resilience Corps NC (AmeriCorps) as a bilingual community engagement coordinator at El Futuro focusing on our therapeutic garden and engaging the Latino community.

What advice would you give to current or future sustainability leaders based on your experience?

I would say not to stress because whatever you’re working on, I can guarantee you that it will be impactful and you’ll be able to see that over time so be patient.

What’s your favorite memory as a Sustainability Steward?

In my very short time as a Steward, my favorite memory was our retreat because I felt that I really got to connect with a lot of new people and discover what aspects of sustainability are more meaningful to me.
