[panel heading=”Campus Farmer’s Market ” headingtype=”p” type=”panel-default” state=”closed” style=”boostrap”]What is it? Founded in 2010, Campus Farmers’ Market is a weekly campus market featuring local producers selling produce, value-added products and crafts. All products sold in the market are produced in the state of North Carolina. The student-run market provides an educational opportunity for the NC State community and further serves NC State’s responsibility as a land-grant university, supporting North Carolina agriculture and helping to enhance our local economy by fostering direct producer-to-consumer interaction.

The Market’s student club organizes educational events at our market around specific sustainable food systems. We also host educational and social events for our club members to support local small business owners in the agriculture industry such as farm tours, corn mazes and apple orchards. Additionally, the club hosts farmer’s market field trips and campus-wide events like the Entrepreneurship in Agriculture Panel Discussion.

Get involved: Meetings on Mondays at 7 p.m. in Riddick Hall 314 and the weekly market is on Wednesdays 11 a.m.  to 3 p.m. on the Brickyard.

SOUL Garden (Students for Organic United Living) was born out of a strong desire to encourage student development through environmental stewardship. In NC State’s first harvestable garden, students grow organic produce while nurturing and expanding their leadership, team building and work ethic skills. We use organic gardening as an avenue to help students work towards their goals, increase their food security and build out-of-classroom skills. Our students have started projects such as developing a compost collection service, designing a green space, creating a pollinator garden, improving our infrastructure and developing a speaker series — all of which have the needs of future generations in mind.

Get involved: Subscribe to our newsletter on our website. Info about committee meetings will be sent out this way. We have monthly leadership meetings, as well as committee meetings specific to each project/initiative. [panel heading=”Zero Waste Wolves” headingtype=”p” type=”panel-default” state=”closed” style=”boostrap”]What is it? The Zero Waste Wolves Club seeks to spread the message of waste reduction and diversion around campus. The biggest obstacle facing waste reduction practices is a lack of public knowledge and engagement. The purpose of this club is to create a network of students committed to not only reducing waste in their personal lives but to informing and encouraging others in the NC State community to do the same. Recycling, composting and reuse are excellent ways to reduce waste footprint, but lifestyle changes can often seem daunting or inconvenient. Through events, workshops, info sessions, and programs, the Waste Reduction Club works to spread the message about the positive environmental impacts that can come from reducing your waste stream.
