Applications Open for Sustainability Grants

You can advance campus sustainability with the support of financial grants from the NC State Sustainability Fund. Two application cycles for funding are open now: a FastTrack Grant cycle specifically for students due Nov. 19 and a Normal Grant cycle for the entire campus community due Feb. 1.

Established in 2013 as a result of student-led advocacy, the Sustainability Fund offers approximately $155,000 annually in grants, which are generated through a $2.50 per semester student fee. The grant program is administered by the student-led Sustainability Fund Advisory Board, which reviews grant applications and funds projects that most impact students and sustainability.

This year, the Sustainability Fund Advisory Board has decided to bring back an accelerated grant cycle to the Fund, called FastTrack.

“We are excited to reintroduce FastTrack Grants to empower student sustainability projects,” says student Grace Gould, who is the chair of this year’s Sustainability Fund Advisory Board. “I believe by supporting student initiatives, we can harness the innovative potential of students and drive meaningful change towards a sustainable future.”

FastTrack projects are open only to students and registered student organizations for projects that can be initiated and completed in the upcoming Spring 2024 semester. The FastTrack Grant project limit is $1,000.

Applicants seeking funding for larger projects that may require more time can also apply to the Sustainability Fund’s Normal Grant Cycle. The Normal Grant Cycle is for projects that will be implemented and completed in the 2024-2025 academic year. These project grants are available to the entire campus community, including students, faculty, staff and organizations. There is no set award amount for the Normal Grant Cycle, allowing applicants to dream big.

Learn more and apply through Nov. 19 for a FastTrack Grant or through Feb. 1 for the Normal Grant at go.ncsu.edu/sustainabilityfund.
