NC State Campus – between Gold, Welch, and Syme residence halls
NC State Students for Solar and the Student Government Sustainability Commission invite all students, staff, faculty, and the general public to attend the Solar Pavilion project’s ribbon cutting ceremony on! August 21, 2012. The ceremony will include refreshments, information about solar energy, and highlights about the efforts NC State is making to become a sustainable campus.
The Solar Pavilion project started as a result of winning the Think Outside the Brick competition, which provided a grant to implement the project. Over the past two years, four students and multiple faculty members refined the project scope, which resulted in the solar array installation in July 2012. The array currently consists of three SolarWorld panels and provides renewable energy to two outlets.
Through the Solar Pavilion project, NC State Students for Solar was formed. The purpose of this student organization is to advocate solar energy on NC State’s campus by educating about and implementing technologies.
