May is Bike Month at NC State

May is Bike Month at NC State and the perfect time to try pedal-powered transportation. Whether you’re commuting to class, heading to work or just cruising across campus, biking is a fun, healthy and sustainable way to get around.
To celebrate, NC State Transportation is hosting a Bike to Work Day “Pit Stop” on Thursday, May 15 from 7:30–9:00 a.m. at 363 Dan Allen Drive. Stop by for refreshments, bike resources and free swag including bike lights, reflective vests, tool kits and seat covers. This event is one of several National Bike to Work Day pit stops happening across the Raleigh area.
You can also win prizes like gift cards, a $50 coupon towards an e-bike, and even concert tickets with GoPerks.
“Biking is the most rewarding way to get around,” said Amanda Simmons, program manager for NC State Transportation. “National Bike Month is the perfect time to come together, celebrate the joy of biking and strengthen our community.”
As a Bicycle Friendly University at the Silver level, NC State offers a number of benefits to cyclists, including alternative commuter benefits for students and employees, multipurpose trails and bike racks on all Wolfline buses. Campus maintenance stations are also available for students.
New this year, Transportation has launched a brand-new GroupMe dedicated to all things biking on and around campus. Users can share favorite routes, organize group rides and connect with fellow Wolfpack cyclists.
Also coming up this month is a Bike Maintenance Class at the Bike Library on Centennial Campus. The first session is on Sunday, May 11, with additional monthly classes scheduled through August. These events are a great way to learn basic tune-ups and keep your ride rolling smoothly.
This May, celebrate National Bike Month with the Wolfpack and discover how rewarding cycling can be. Every ride counts!
