Zero Waste Wolfpack Kicks Off Thursday

Are you ready for some football?

As a new college football season kicks off, volunteers are needed to help NC State Athletics strive for zero waste at every home football game.

Volunteers play a crucial role in guiding fans on how to recycle and compost their gameday waste properly. No prior experience is required, as training – and free t-shirts- are provided. Individuals and groups can sign up at go.ncsu.edu/zerowastewolfpack.

Zero Waste Wolfpack volunteers help fans compost during home football games.

Last season, volunteers helped to compost 4,712 pounds and recycle 68,940 pounds from Carter-Finley Stadium.

The program’s success helped NC State Athletics win Front Office Sports’ 2024 Most Sustainable Award. In addition, Zero Waste Wolfpack has also resulted in accolades from the City of Raleigh, Carolina Recycling Association and the Green Sports Alliance.
