April is Earth Month at NC State

April is Earth Month at NC State University. Throughout April, NC State will buzz with over 50 sustainability-related events including service opportunities, fairs, workshops, concerts and outdoor activities.

Some major events include:

  • Earth Fair, taking place Wednesday, April 10 from 11 am – 2 pm on Stafford Commons. Over 60 sustainability-related organizations will attend, providing interactive displays, products for sale, demos and information about sustainability.
  • Celebration of NC State Sustainability is set for Tuesday, April 23. This annual event honors the people, projects and progress that advance sustainability at NC State. Announcements of the NC State Sustainability Fund grant recipients and NC State Sustainability Awards winners will occur during the program. This year’s Sustainability Awards mark two decades of recognizing outstanding achievements in sustainability on campus and beyond. 
  • Sustainability Social is also planned for Thursday, April 25 from 4 – 6 pm on Centennial Campus. The Wolfpack community and beyond are invited to attend.

And that’s just a few of the more than 50 event offerings. There are local food showcases at dining halls, wellness events, speakers, workshops, films, networking events and so much more, including 

  • NC State Bee Campus Competition where participants take pictures of campus bees April 1-22 and upload them to an app. Winners receive a “sweet” prize.
  • Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge takes place April 1-22 for NC State staff and students to participate in environmental engagement, wellness activities, community connections and sustainability education.
  • Small Island Big Song brings together filmmakers, oceanographers, scientists and artists April 8-12 showcasing the interconnectedness of climate change and art.
  • Earth Day Clean Up of Lake Raleigh Woods on April 22 from 1 pm – 4 pm
