Housekeeping Wins Raleigh Environmental Award
NC State University Housekeeping has been honored with the Business Innovation for Environmental Stewardship Award by the City of Raleigh.
The award, which is part of the City’s annual Environmental Awards, is presented for practices that demonstrate the business case for environmental stewardship.
Housekeeping was selected because of the Green Seal Certification it earned last year. This rigorous third-party certification verifies cleaning services and products that are safe for human health and environment. NC State is the first university in North Carolina and the sixth in the country to be certified by Green Seal.
“Our entire Housekeeping staff worked hard to achieve Green Seal certification. We are proud of the certification and delighted to receive this additional recognition from the City of Raleigh,” said Ada Baldwin, director of University Housekeeping.
Green cleaning has many benefits, including reduced operational costs, better indoor air quality and less exposure to harsh chemicals. As part of the certification, Housekeeping is audited annually to ensure cleaning products and processes remain sustainable amid ever-improving requirements.
