April is Earth Month at NC State

Updated  4/3/18 to reflect new date for Earth Fair due to rain.

April ushers in signs of spring and NC State’s Earth Month, the university’s annual focus on the planet and sustainability.

This year’s Earth Month features more than 30 sustainability-related events, including service opportunities, fairs, workshops, film screenings and outdoor activities. Many events are free and on campus but may require advance registration. Learn more at http://go.ncsu.edu/earthmonth.

Earth Month’s signature event, Earth Fair, is set for Wednesday, April 11, from 10 am until 2 pm on the Brickyard. A long-standing campus tradition, the event features interactive displays, demos and information from nearly 75 sustainability-related organizations.

This year NC State will also host a service event on Earth Day, which is April 22. Volunteers are needed to clean up litter at Lake Raleigh and help maintain trails to reduce erosion.

Other Earth Month events focus on various aspects of sustainability, including the environment and natural resources, business and social impact. The month concludes with the Celebration of NC State Sustainability, which includes the announcement of winners of NC State Sustainability Fund grants and NC State Green Brick Awards for outstanding achievement in sustainability.

Hosted by NC State’s Sustainability Council and University Sustainability Office and sponsored by NC State Campus Enterprises, Earth Month aims to raise awareness about sustainability and opportunities to contribute toward a more sustainable future.
