The mission of the Change Your Statecampaign is to encourage students, faculty and staff to become more environmentally conscious on NC State University’s campus and beyond.The first year goal is to reduce the amount of electricity on campus by 5 percent. In years past, the university has spent almost $20 million on energy alone. By working together to achieve this goal, the university could shave off $1 million or more on it’s yearly power bill.
Change Your State was proposed by a group of students in Lynn Ennis’ MBA Creativity Class during spring semester 2010. The Community and Culture working group of the Campus Environmental Sustainability Team (CEST), consisting of campus communications specialists, then took the most creative elements and formed key messages, the logo and launched the web site in fall 2010.
