NC State Jumps To No. 17 On The Princeton Review’s Top 50 Green Colleges

NC State is ranked 17th on The Princeton Review’s 2019 “Top 50 Green Colleges” list, leaping 25 spots from No. 42 in 2018.

The university has been named a Green College by The Princeton Review since 2012 but made the top 50 list for the first time last year by scoring 96 out of 99 possible points.  This year, NC State is among 26 schools that earned the highest possible score — 99 out of 99.

NC State’s score was determined through an institutional survey about sustainability-related policies, practices and programs. In NC State’s profile, The Princeton Review cited many of the university’s sustainability features, including sustainability-related degree programs and extensive alternative transportation options.

Also factored into the ranking are results of a student survey that The Princeton Review conducted with NC State undergraduates. This student opinion survey includes questions about the influence of sustainability issues on their education and life on campus, administration and student support for environmental awareness and conservation efforts, and the visibility and impact of student environmental groups.
