Bio: My name is Vie Villafuerte and I am a senior in Environmental Engineering. I love the natural world we live in, and I have always found joy in being outside in nature looking and talking to animals (yes, think Eliza from The Wild Thornberrys). Witnessing how our planet is being polluted and our natural resources depleted, I got interested in becoming a helping hand for the betterment of our environment. I want us to have a more sustainable lifestyle so that future generations are able to breathe a clean air, drink healthy water, and enjoy nature, while equally protecting our environment and conserving our wildlife. As a result, my sustainability passion involves waste reduction and preservation of ecosystems.
My other leadership positions on campus include being the president of the Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (WaSH) student chapter and being a Goodnight Scholar Ambassador. In my free time, I enjoy painting and handcrafting!
What does sustainability mean to you?
Sustainability means collectively finding harmony between the natural world and our man-made world by wisely utilizing natural resources and making decisions that will improve environmental and public health for us, for generations to come, and for the diverse species living in this planet.
