NCSU Saves 10 Million Gallons Of Water

NCSU’s Building Maintenance and Operations, a division of Facilities Operations, completed 10 projects in only five months that, cumulatively will save our university nearly 10 million gallons of water per year. Projects included capturing condensate and reusing the water for swamp coolers and irrigation, installing low-flow aerators in all faucets, replacing inefficient toilets with more water-efficient models or installing low-flow valves, equipment replacement and more. The project’s cost an estimated $265,000 with an expected return on investment within six years or less.
