Environmental Leadership Awards for NC State

COR Awards - Jack and RachelThe City of Raleigh presented the 2012 Environmental Awards on Tuesday April 24, 2012 at the Nature Research Center wing of the Museum of Natural Sciences. Awards were presented to 15 local individuals and organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to protecting or improving the environment, including two members of the N.C. State community.

Jack Colby, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities Operations and Co-Chair of the Campus Environmental Sustainability Team, was honored with the Legacy Award for his steadfast commitment to sustainability. Rachel Conley (candidate for Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology) was recognized for her outreach and leadership efforts with the Environmental Awareness Award.

Ms. Conley has served as the president of the Leopold Wildlife Club and Chair of the Sustainability Committee for Student Government over the past two years. Mr. Colby has helped lead N.C. State to significant reductions in energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and the diversion of almost half of campus waste from the landfill.
