10 Ways to Enjoy Earth Month Outdoors

The following post is written by engineering student and EcoVillage resident Michelle Kovacs.

It’s Earth Month at NC State! And with the weather heating up, what better way to celebrate than to spend some time outdoors and in nature. Here are some ideas to get you outside this Earth Month:

  1. Take a trip to Pullen Park and go for a spin in a pedal boat.

Have a fun afternoon out on the water with a friend while pedaling your way around beautiful Pullen Park.

  1. Go for a jog, walk, or bike ride along the greenway.

Get out and get some exercise! Enjoy the scenic route our greenway has to offer while getting your blood flowing.

  1. Nap in the Court of Carolina.

Enjoy a relaxing nap on the lush lawns of the Court of Carolina. Get your share of vitamin D and catch some zzzzz’s between classes.

  1. Attend the Kay Yow Spring Football Game.

Fix your Wolfpack football craving by attending the Kay Yow spring football game. And don’t forget to check out the compost bins while you’re there!

  1. Study on the upstairs balcony of Hunt Library.

Beautiful spring Sundays that have to be spent studying are the worst. Change that by studying outside on the balcony of Hunt. Watch the sunset over Lake Raleigh and breathe in the Carolina pine air!

  1. Join an outdoor yoga class to unwind before finals.

As finals approach and stress levels skyrocket, stay grounded by attending an outdoor yoga class at Carmichael Gym.

  1. Enjoy your morning cup from Port City Java in front of Talley.

Spend your morning outside listening to the birds chirp in front of Talley Student Union. Don’t forget to bring your reusable mug to PCJ!

  1. Eat lunch outside the Atrium.

Make your lunch a little sunnier by getting your Chick-Fil-A fix outdoors.

  1. Soak up some rays on the steps of the Belltower.

Celebrate the Wolfpack wins with your friends and enjoy the view of Hillsborough Street from the steps of the Belltower.

  1. Sit on a bench between classes, and enjoy the beautiful weather of North Carolina.

On those spring days that everyone would rather be spending outside, take a leisure walk from class to class and enjoy a moment on a bench soaking in our beautiful weather at home at NC State.
