Campus sustainability ideas sought at town hall

Sustainability-Input-Billboard3How sustainable will NC State be in 2022? You can help decide.

NC State’s Sustainability Strategic Plan – the roadmap for advancing the university’s campus-wide sustainability efforts – needs updating for the next five years.

The newly-formed NC State Sustainability Council will host a Sustainability Town Hall to generate ideas for the university’s future sustainability efforts. The Jan. 20 event will be 9 – 11 a.m. in Witherspoon Student Center room 126. Open to all members of the campus community, the event features an interactive gallery walk format, as well as coffee and light refreshments.

Focus areas for the town hall mirror the Sustainability Council’s five working group areas: campus operations, planning and design; community and culture; academics; communications and student leadership.

Working groups will begin meeting in February to study feedback from the town hall and propose goal updates for the 2017-2022 Sustainability Strategic Plan. Individuals interested in joining a working group can sign up online or at the town hall.

The university’s previous five-year Sustainability Strategic Plan was adopted in 2011 and concludes this fiscal year.
