Students seeking hands-on experience and the chance to make a difference on campus can now apply for the 2026-2027 Campus As A Classroom internship program.

The University Sustainability Office, in partnership with departments across NC State, is offering 17 paid internships focused on sustainability projects that help students build professional skills, work with campus mentors and contribute to the university’s sustainability goals.

Since Fall 2021, Campus As A Classroom has engaged 482 students and supported 124 classroom and internship projects across campus.

Learn by Doing

Campus As A Classroom internships allow students to work on real campus challenges. Each internship is hosted by a campus department and guided by faculty or staff mentors. 

There are 15 projects available to this year’s interns that will address sustainability issues in areas such as athletics, communications, career development, design, data analysis, energy, waste reduction and student engagement.

Students gain experience in project management, collaboration, research and problem-solving while working 6–15 hours per week during the academic year. They also take part in a cohort experience that supports leadership development and peer connection.
