New Cohort of Sustainability Stewards Making an Impact

This year’s cohort of Sustainability Stewards is already hard at work, making strides in their mission to advance sustainability at NC State.

Established in 2013, the student leadership program is coordinated by the University Sustainability Office and is dedicated to promoting sustainable action on campus. The program focuses on advancing environmental, social and economic sustainability within the university community. This year, 33 Stewards are leading the charge, with applications open now through Sunday, October 20th for first-year and transfer students who want to join the team.

The Stewards are tackling a range of projects from maintaining an edible garden to organizing a campus-wide residence hall energy and water reduction competition for NC State Energy Week.

“Last year, the Sustainability Stewards embraced their artistic creativity and I’m looking forward to seeing how they continue to weave their passions into their work,” said Keondra Jenkins, program coordinator for the University Sustainability Office. “This year’s group is committed to making a tangible difference, and I’m excited to see how their projects contribute to a more sustainable campus.”
