Food Justice Event In Review

Nearly 300 people participated in the fourth annual, student-led Environmental Justice Symposium (EJS) that explored issues, innovations and careers in food justice. The event was hosted by the NC State Stewards, a student organization supported by the University Sustainability Office and focused on creating a more sustainable campus.

The symposium engaged students from all backgrounds, as well as faculty, staff and community members in highlighting local issues and resources, offering tangible ways to contribute solutions, and collaborating to build a more equitable food system.

The packed week of virtual events  included a panel of young professionals entering careers in food justice, a discussion with current student leaders on campus, a film screening of the documentary Kiss the Ground, as well as lectures with experts and community leaders. All session recordings are now available on the event website

The Stewards offer their thanks to the speakers, participants and sponsors, including the Kiss The Ground team that provided a grant to make the documentary free of charge to symposium participants.
