Fraternity, Sorority Life Names Most Sustainable Chapter

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. received the 2018 Most Sustainable Chapter award during the annual NC State Fraternity and Sorority Life Standards of Excellence Awards Ceremony on Oct. 17.

Chapters that have minimized their environmental impact while maximizing their positive impact on society are considered for the Most Sustainable Chapter Award. This includes chapter programming and events that have themes of natural resources or conservation, access to education, diversity, equity, environmental justice, social justice, philanthropy or charity events.

During the previous academic year, Delta Sigma Theta members collaborated with The Ecocap Movement, a Japanese nonprofit, to collect bottle caps that are recycled with proceeds funding Polio vaccinations for children.

Two runner ups for the award, Kappa Alpha Theta and Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc., were also recognized at the ceremony.

NC State’s Most Sustainable Chapter Award was first awarded in 2013 (see previous winners).
