Colby accepted APPA’s Distinguished Leadership and Ethics Award on July 13 in Nashville, Tenn., as part of the APPA annual conference.

The Distinguished Leadership and Ethics Award is presented to an individual APPA member who has made significant contributions to the profession of education facilities management and who has demonstrated the principles of ethical leadership.

“His commitment and dedication to the association and the educational facilities profession it serves is unmatched,” said Randolph Hare, an APPA past president.

An active member of APPA and its related organizations for more than 35 years, Colby was APPA president in 2005-2006 and has also served the organization as vice president for professional affairs, on many committees and as secretary-treasurer.

APPA, previously known as the Association of Physical Plant Administrators, promotes leadership in educational facilities for professionals seeking to build their careers, transform their institutions, and elevate the value and recognition of facilities in education.
