At the annual Greek Life Awards on Oct. 16, Omega Psi Phi took home NC State’s first-ever Most Sustainable Chapter Award, which honors the campus Greek chapter that has most embodied the spirit of sustainability.
Omega Psi Phi demonstrated excellence in both environmental responsibility and service in the community. Its members helped clean up Lake Raleigh, volunteered at Youth Outreach Saturday School, participated in Shoeboxes of Love Wrapping Party, and attended a Hunger Banquet that brought awareness to global hunger issues.
Omega Psi Phi also started a recycling initiative, going door-to-door on Ridge Road to recycle telephone books as well as conducting recycling events on campus at Tucker Hall, Avent Ferry, Wolf Village and Bragaw Hall.
Chapters that have minimized their environmental impact while maximizing their positive impact on society will be considered for this annual award.
