Formerly an energy conservation campaign, Change Your State now incorporates eight aspects of sustainable living.

A better NC State and world – that’s the goal of Change Your State, a new sustainability campaign at North Carolina State University.

Throughout the 2013-2014 academic year, Change Your State will challenge students to address some of society’s great challenges through simple actions that can save money and natural resources while improving human health and the environment. The campaign comes complete with a free mobile app, Joulebug, which was developed by NC State alumni and includes an NC State badge users can earn for taking sustainable actions on campus.

A Pack Pride badge is available on the free Joulebug mobile app that is part of Change Your State.

Coordinated by the University Sustainability Office in partnership with nearly a dozen campus partners, Change Your State will focus on eight aspects of sustainable living such as saving energy and water, using alternative transportation, improving personal wellness and reducing waste. Beginning in September, one of the eight topics will be explored each month through campus events, special promotions and the campaign’s website:

 • Food (September)
 • Energy (October)
 • Zero Waste (November)
 • Community (December)
 • Travel (January)
 • Wellness (February)
 • Water (March)
 • Planet (April)
