Green Buildings Are Coming To Campus

Our university announced that all new campus buildings will be built to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards.  These standards, set by the US Green Building Council, are the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The standards take into consideration categories such as site selection, alternative transportation, water efficiency, energy efficiency and renewable energy, material use, indoor environmental quality, innovation and more.

These new standards fall in line with our NC State University Physical Master Plan that rates sustainability among the university’s guiding principles. The guiding principles are used as a checklist for each campus development project.  As our campus grows and changes we are committed to protecting, enhancing and restoring environmental quality.
