Earthwise Awards

Each year a faculty member, staff member and a student are honored with an “Earthwise Award” for outstanding achievement in environmental sustainability on campus.

The University Sustainability Office presents the awards in order to recognize individual efforts put forth by our campus community to, “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

The University Sustainability Office is proud to announce CREE as the naming sponsor of the 2010 Earthwise Awards. CREE, based in Research Triangle Park, is the brainchild of NC State alumni and maker of LEDs; the next generation lighting technology. NC State was named the first LED University in the world and has many installations of the fixtures
throughout campus. Bragaw Residence Hall is recognized as the largest dorm in the country retrofitted with LED lighting.

The awards ceremony will be April 19, 2010 at 7pm in the Campus Cinema, located in Witherspoon Student Center. Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business, Charles D. Leffler and representatives from CREE will present the awards.
