NC State hosts free recycling, paper shredding drive

recycling_drive-300x201Ready to get rid of that old television or shred a slew of sensitive documents you no longer need? NC Stateā€™s annual paper shredding and recycling drive on March 11 is an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of unwanted items. The event is free and open to the public.

From 9 a.m. through 1 p.m.Ā at the corner of Partners Way and Main Campus Drive on NC Stateā€™s Centennial Campus, theĀ following items will be accepted:

  • Corded electronic items such as computers, handheld devices, small kitchen appliances, televisions and cell phones
  • Electronic-related items such as batteries, CDs and USB drives
  • Rigid plastics such as buckets, flower pots and coolers
  • Up to 10, 50-pound boxes of mixed paper per person
  • Textiles include clothing, shoes and blankets
  • Plastic bags
  • CFL and otherĀ fluorescent light bulbs

Hosted by NC Stateā€™s Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, event sponsors and participants include Shred Ace, PowerHouse, Planet Aid and the NC State Stewards student group.Ā Volunteers are needed and can sign up atĀ recycling.ncsu.edu.
